When our family needs to be away from home, our pets are not emotionally able to handle being away from their domain, so they cannot be placed in a kennel.
They are homebodies.
Kiara, the difficult dog-child, also makes it even more challenging when looking for a pet sitter, for she is not an easy one to win over. Our red heeler is territorial, and only partial to the family. She could care less about other people or dogs, and she will let you know that. Spots and Turnip our rescue cats, are more adaptable, but jealous of each other, so they have another set of boundaries and instructions when together.
I first met Jennifer when our last pet sitter moved and I needed someone. (I had not been totally happy with the last pet sitter but it was hard to find someone who Kiara would tolerate). We were fairly new to this area, so I did not know anyone and did not have any personal referrals, so I was starting from scratch. I made many calls and interviewed a number of people. Since I interview a lot of people in my job, I tried to reassure myself, and family, that I would make a good choice. (And I kept my fingers crossed).
When I met Jennifer, I liked her personality, and her professionalism. I noticed how she was thorough, organized and detail oriented. She listened to my instructions and concerns and really heard me. I decided to take a chance on Jennifer and was I happy that I did!
When I called home to check in on things, Jennifer always promptly returned my calls.
She let me know how the pets were doing, and the daily details. I could tell from our conversations that she was really engaged with our pets. Even though I was not there, her daily descriptions revealed the personality traits of our pets, which made it obvious to me that she was very involved with them. 
She befriended Kiara by playing ball with her until she ran off her energy and they became buddies during our absence. She juggled her attentions between the two jealous cats as well, so all the pets felt cared for during our time away from home.
Jennifer was trustworthy and dependable, as our pet sitter and as a guest in our home.
I have not used anyone else since I have met Jennifer and I am happy to recommend her.
